Posted: Tue, Aug 31, 2010Fun Stuff : Surgery on a Harley
A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come take a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage "Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?"
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and said, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new.
So how come I make $39,675 a year, a pretty small salary and you get the really big bucks ($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work?"
The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic................................
"TRY DOING IT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING"

Posted: Thu, Jul 15, 2010Industry News : New Technology In Motorcyle Security System And Motorcyle Tracking
Guardian Global Technologies, Inc., the parent company of Phantom Tracking.com has introduced its Gen 2 Motorcycle Security Sytem to the public and motorcycle dealers across the nation. This new motorcycle alarm system and motorcycle tracking system is the first in the world to combine an anti-theft security/tracking system with a crash detection feature using GPS enabled technology.
The problem is that Motorcycle thefts have increased 50% since 2004 and now stand at 63,828 nation-wide. This stands in contrast to automobiles thefts which are down 12.6% in 2008 from 2007 and down 8.1% in 2007 from 2006.
On average in the US a motorcycle is stolen every 8 minutes. The news gets worse from there, motorcycle parts, including frames, can be more easily altered, reused and camouflaged than car or truck parts. Which results in a very low recovery rate for stolen motorcycles than automobiles: 13-20% for motorcycles vs. 60-70% for automobiles.
Unlike automobiles, motorcycles can easily be stolen without having to start them. Stolen motorcycles can be placed in the bed of any pick-up truck, rendering wheel, caliper and steering locks completely useless.
Some OEM security solutions include engine immobilization technologies but these only help if the thief intends to drive them off. Alarms that include flashing lights and sirens are easily disabled with the use of an ordinary hammer. Phantoms newly patented technology claims to eliminate the worry about stolen motorcycles.
Additionally alarm systems that rely on police departments to carry special equipment to track a stolen motorcycle will work only within the jurisdiction of that police department, if the stolen motorcycle is beyond that police
department it cannot be tracked. But Phantoms motorcycle security system contends its the only active motorcycle alarm system that works with police departments in all 50 States.
The interesting fact is Phantom Tracking's patented crash detection technology allows the tracking device to sense conditions experienced in a motorcycle crash and notify the monitoring center of a possible crash and its location.
Once a crash notification is received by the monitoring center a live operator will call the motorcycle owner to determine if assistance is needed. If no answer is received the monitoring center can dispatch emergency services to the location of the motorcycle. This is vital when you are alone on the road and need emergency help and can certainly save lives as well.
David Schmidt, Phamtons Director states: "We have pioneered motorcycle crash detection technology for motorcycles and we are the only company to offer it. Combined with Phantom Tracking's patented anti-theft motorcycle tracking
technology. We offer today's motorcycle owners the total safety and security they need."
Key Components of Phantoms motorcycle security system:
Immediate notification of unauthorized motorcycle movement.
SiRF Star III technology tracks inside warehouses and garages.
24 hour live monitoring center calls you in the event of a theft or crash.
Nation-wide coverage.
Next generation GSM/GPRS wireless connectivity.
Back-up battery: In case main power supply is lost or cut.
The tracking device is so small it can be concealed within a motorcycle frame and combines an extremely powerful GPS receiver, data modem, ignition disable and key fob RF Interface. This unit uses GSM/GPRS technology to transmit real-time data in seconds, allowing the tracking and recovery to begin within the first critical moments following the theft.
